After this update, users will be able to swipe forward or back through the recommended videos, either to the next one or if they want to watch the previous one they can swipe back to continue the last video from where they had dropped. This update is targetting to the YouTube app as the company says it has more than 70 percent of viewers from mobile. So, to get most out of it, Company is trying to maximize their content’s binge factor.
Apart from that, YouTube had already brought many changes to its Mobile app over the past couple of years including a dark mode, instant messaging and sharing feature and many more. Recently, YouTube had introduced its own Story feature like most of the messaging platforms to share the current status of the individual.
In addition, they also introduced the video skipping gesture through which double tapping on either of the side of the video screen skips/back the video for a few seconds. Now after the launch of this update mobile users will also get a feature to skip a whole video instantly just by sliding horizontally.
Meanwhile, the Company says, this feature will be rolling this week for only iOS users. Unfortunately, they uttered no word for this feature to be launched on Android Platform.
