Windows 10-powered laptops are poised to get a major boost, thanks to the latest announcement from chipset supremo Intel. The processor maker has just announced the launch of its new 11th generation Intel Core processors, which are set to power the next generation of portable PCs.
In fact, Intel is boasting that its new brains, which also feature Intel Iris Xe graphics, are the best processors for anyone who wants an ultra thin and incredibly light laptop. Its latest batch of chips should bring improved capabilities across all digital tasks, including better gaming and entertainment.
That’s because the latest Intel chips are 20 percent faster than competitive products from rival firms. And the impressive stats don’t end there as the US firm is also confident photo editing will be 2.7x faster, while video editing gets a 2x boost. The 11th Gen Intel Core processors are also the first in the industry with hardware-supported Dolby Vision. That means they will be able to deliver more immersive content experiences when bingeing boxsets and watching movies on your travels with a laptop.

“11th Gen Intel Core processors with Intel Iris Xe graphics are a major leap forward in real-world processor performance and are the best laptop processors we have built,” said Gregory Bryant, Intel executive vice president and general manager of the Client Computing Group.
“From productivity and content creation to entertainment and gaming, when you pick a system powered by 11th Gen Intel Core – especially one of our new Intel Evo co-engineered and verified designs – you know you are getting the best laptop experience possible.”
There’s no word on when the first laptops powered by Intel’s latest and greatest silicon will launch, but expect all of the usual major manufacturers to share plans on their devices with the 11th generation chips in the coming weeks.
The launch of these new processors comes as Apple recently announced that it would be moving away from Intel. The future of the Mac will now be reliant on Apple’s own silicon with some reports suggesting the firm’s first laptop without Intel could launch before the end of the year.
Microsoft and Samsung have already launched products powered by ARM architecture chips, which boast better battery life than on anything with an Intel processor inside. However, developers need to update their Windows 10 and macOS apps to support these rival chipsets.
