Your Mercedes-Benz Will Soon Have An AI-Powered Virtual Assistant

Mercedes-Benz is certain to raise eyebrows at the upcoming CES 2024 when the luxury automaker reveals its new MBUX Virtual Assistant.

Seen as the next-generation version of its complete multimedia system, the goal is to provide an unprecedented level of personalization to users, while taking the driver-car relationship into a new dimension with natural, human-like interaction. This new personal assistant tech will debut at the Consumer Electronics Show on January 9.

The AI-powered feature, which offers a natural language interface that drivers can use to control conditions within the car, is being hailed by the firm as the “next major step” towards its vision of a connected, personalised driving experience.

A spokesperson called it, “An extension of you and seamlessly in tune with your needs. This is the way forward for a hyper-personalized and intuitive customer experience.”

Using high-resolution game-engine graphics from Unity, the manufacturer claimed that the new design gives the “Hey Mercedes” voice assistant a “whole new visual dimension.”

Ola Källenius, CEO of Mercedes-Benz, said, “Mercedes-Benz is reinventing the digital passenger experience by leveraging AI to offer human-like interaction with the intelligent MBUX Virtual Assistant.” It has empathetic qualities that complement your driving style and mood. “Paired with our in-house MB.OS operating system, this approach will define the future of digital luxury.” According to the company, this new technology will start appearing in its passenger vehicles over the next few years.

Other highlights at Mercedes’ CES stand include the latest developments in in-car entertainment, a first-of-its-kind partnership and the North American reveal of its camouflaged prototype of its upcoming fully electric G-Class.
