You Can Now Manually Tag People from Google Photos

Google Photos is undoubtedly the best and most used service of Google. This service is globally popular and both, Android and iOS users are making use of it for storing their photos over the cloud. If you too are using Google Photos on your device, then the Search Giant has just introduced a new Face Tagging feature in the Google Photos app.

Google Photos’ new Face Tagging feature was first spotted by Android Police and its team. A few months ago, Google Photos product lead had said that manual face tagging feature will soon be made available on Google Photos app and it’s in their roadmap. And it is finally here!

The same feature was first found by the team of XDA Developers as a hidden feature on the latest Google Photos v4.32. They succeeded in enabling this feature with the Google Photos v4.32. Now, the same manual face tagging feature has been released for a limited number of users.

This new manual face tagging feature will work with Google’s Face Detection algorithm. The company has not designed or developed a new technology to bring this feature in real life. The same technology will help the users to tag the faces or the humans and pets with the help of the Face detection algorithm itself.

Google’s Face Detection algorithm has some lacks with a non-clear face. If you have a part of a face or a side face, then Google can’t recognize such photos and you would not be able to tag such photos automatically with the Face Detection algorithm. Well, by now you can add manually tags to such photos just by selecting on the face area and then searching for the user’s name.

When you find such a photo in your Google Photos app, you can select the photo and then can select the face of a person or pet from it. Then you would be allowed to search for the name of that particular person. You just need to select Add button to add a manual tag on the photo.
