Xiaomi Redmi Note 8, Note 8 Pro with Quad-Rear Camera Module Launched: Price, Specifications

After the overwhelming response from the Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7 Pro, Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi has launched the successor of these smartphones called the Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro in China. Like most of the smartphones from Redmi, the Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro is another most affordable smartphone from the company that features an excellent combination of design and hardware. Out of both of these devices, the Redmi Note 8 Pro is the most premium one featuring unbelievable sets of hardware at a great price range. Let’s take a close look at both of these devices one by one.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro Specifications

The all-new Redmi Note 8 Pro sports a 6.53-inch Full HD+ resolution FullView display with a 91.4 percent screen-to-body ratio. It comes with a 3D curved glass display. The company has provided a diamond cut grade texture at the back panel that gives it a premium look. It comes in three color variants – Jade Green, White, and Grey color. Out of all of these, the white color variant reflects seven rainbow colors as the light hits the back.

Under the hood, the Redmi Note 8 Pro is powered by an octa-core MediaTek G90t gaming chipset that supports liquid cooling for heat dissipation. It comes with a copper tube inside it for better heat dissipation. The device is further coupled with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 128GB of inbuilt storage. This storage is expandable up to 512GB via a MicroSD card.

Redmi Note 8 Pro

In the camera department, the Redmi Note 8 Pro sports a quad-rear camera setup that includes a 64MP camera sensor with an f/1.7 aperture, 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, 2MP macro lens, and 2MP depth-sensing lens for portrait. At the front, there is a 20MP camera for selfies and video calling. Xiaomi has also partnered with TikTok and so the Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro has been the best choice for making TikTok videos.

One of the biggest highlights of this device is the industry’s first 64MP camera that can capture images at up to 9248×6936 resolutions. The f/1.7 image sensor is comparatively bigger that allows for better photos. Apart from this, the camera on Redmi Note 8 Pro comes with the regular suite of filters and AI beautification technology.

Apart from this, the Redmi Note 8 Pro runs on the latest Android 9 Pie out of the box with MIUI 10 at the top. Connectivity options available in this device include dual-sim 4G LTE support, WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C port, NFC, physical fingerprint sensor mounted on the back, Infrared sensor, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

At last, Redmi Note 8 Pro is fuelled by a 4,500 mAh battery, which is said to last two days that supports 18W fast charging. The fast charging will work on other chargers as well with the same power ratings. 

Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Specifications

The Redmi Note 8 is the base variant among both of the devices. It features a 6.3-inch Full HD+ resolution LCD display with dot notch at the top. At the back, the company has provided a gradient finish like its predecessor. It comes in three color variants – Black, White, Dream Blue. 

Under the hood, the Redmi Note 8 is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 665, which is said to reduce power consumption. It is further coupled with up to 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of inbuilt storage. This storage is expandable up to 512GB via a MicroSD card.

In the camera department, the Redmi Note 8 also features a quad-rear camera setup that includes a 48MP primary sensor, 8MP 120-degree ultra-wide lens, 2MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth camera for Portrait mode. At the front, there is a 13MP camera with AI beautify, Portrait mode and AI scene detection.

Apart from this, the Redmi Note 8 also runs on the latest Android 9 Pie out of the box with MIUI 10 at the top. Connectivity options available in this device include dual-sim 4G LTE support, WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C port, physical fingerprint sensor mounted on the back, Infrared sensor, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Similar to Note 8 Pro, this device is also fuelled by a 4,000 mAh battery, which is said to last two days that supports 18W fast charging. The fast charging will work on other chargers as well with the same power ratings. 

Xiaomi Game Controller for Redmi Note 8 Pro

Along with both of these devices, Xiaomi also launched game controller Redmi Note 8 Pro. This game controller has been made by the Black Shark team. Normally, this game controller will cost 179 yuan but for early buyers, Xiaomi is giving away at a discounted price of 99 yuan.

Currently, both of these devices are launched in China. The base price for Redmi Note 8 Pro starts at 1399 yuan (Approx. Rs 14,000) for the 6GB RAM and 64GB storage option. The 6GB RAM and 128GB storage model is priced at 1599 yuan (Approx. Rs. 16,000). At last, the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage option will cost 1799 yuan (Approx. Rs. 18,000).

At the other end, the price of Redmi Note 8 starts at 999 yuan (Approx. Rs 10,000) for the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage option. The 6GB RAM and 64GB storage model is priced at 1199 yuan (Approx. Rs. 12,000). At last, the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage option will cost 1399 yuan (Approx. Rs. 14,000).

Both of these smartphones will go on sale in September. Still, Xiaomi didn’t announce a final date of their arrival on sale.
