Xiaomi Redmi 5A With 5” HD Display and MIUI 9 Launched in China


Xiaomi today has launched the latest entry-level smartphone, the Redmi 5A in China. The new Redmi 5A is priced at 599 Yuan (Rs. 5,884 approx.) and will be available to purchase via both online and offline channels in Champagne Gold, Pink and Grey colour options. Pre-orders starting Monday while sale will starts from tomorrow  at 10 AM via Mi Mall, Mi Home, JD.com, Lynx, Suning Tesco, Mi Stores, China Mobile Mall and several other retail outlets across China.

The Xiaomi Redmi 5A runs on MIUI 9 based on Android Nougat operating system and sports a 5” HD (720×1280 pixels) display with a pixel density of 296ppi. The smartphone is powered by a 1.4GHz 64-bit quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC coupled with Adreno 308 GPU. It offers 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage which is further expandable up to 128GB via microSD card.

For photography, The Redmi 5A comes equipped with a 13MP rear camera with an f/2.2 aperture and LED flash; camera features include PDAF, burst mode, panorama mode, HDR mode, and more. On the front, there is a 5MP front facing camera with an f/2.0 aperture; it is capable to record 1080p and 720p videos.

The smartphone is fueled by a 3000mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 technology. Connectivity options include dual-SIM support, 4G with VoLTE, 3G, GPRS/ EDGE, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, and Micro-USB. The handset measures 140.4 x 70.1 mm x 8.35 mm and weighs 137g.
