Xiaomi Redmi 5 with 18:9 Display and Snapdragon 450 SoC Launched in India


Xiaomi has today finally launched most awaited Xiaomi Redmi 5 smartphone in India. The smartphone comes with the price tag of Rs. 7,999 for 2GB RAM variant, Rs.  8,999 For 3GB RAM variant while the 4GB RAM variant is priced at Rs. 10,999. The smartphone will be available to purchase from 20th March via Amazon India, Mi.com, and Mi Homes, it will also be available at offline retails as well.  It comes in Black, Gold, Rose Gold and Lake Blue color options.

Xiaomi Redmi Specifications

Xiaomi Redmi 5 runs on MIUI 9 based on Android 7.1 Nougat operating system. It sports 5.7” HD+ (1440 x 720 pixels) IPS display with an aspect ratio 18:9. The smartphone is powered by 1.8GHz 64-bit Snapdragon 450 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 506 GPU. It offers 2GB/3GB and 4GB RAM variants with 16GB/32GB and 64GB of internal storage respectively. The storage can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD card.

For photography, the Xiaomi Redmi 5 comes equipped with a 12MP primary camera with an f/2.2 aperture with LED flash support. On the front, it has a 5MP camera with LED flash for better selfies and video calls.

The Xiaomi Redmi 5 is fueled by a 3,300mAh non-removable battery. Connectivity options include Dual-SIM support, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port. There is also a fingerprint scanner on the back. Apart from that, the Redmi 5 feature IR Blaster on the top edge.
