There is no doubt that the iPhone X’s Face ID feature will lead the industry trend and become the object of emulation of the Android flagship in a period of time in the future.
The latest news shows that Xiaomi and OPPO are preparing to launch a similar 3D face recognition technology in their next year’s flagship smartphones.
Specifically, the technology is developed jointly by Qualcomm and Wonder Vision, while the sensor module is from Reliance Optoelectronics.
Reports suggest that the current progress of these three manufacturers is running smoothly, and if all go right the facial recognition solutions come into mass production as soon as March to April next year.
In addition, there is also news that Huawei is currently working with Sunny Optical Technologies to develop related 3D sensor solutions for its high-end models. The Ophelia optical technology is also developing the corresponding technology; the future is expected to cooperate with domestic manufacturers.
Although face recognition has become inevitable to the mainstream, TechnoCodex thinks that facial recognition technology cannot instantly replace the fingerprint identification as it is widely adopted, so for Android vendors should not rashly cut fingerprinting, it is likely to let the two coexist.
