Xiaomi Mi Band 5 Debuts with Bigger Display and Magnetic Charger: Price, Specification


Xiaomi has launched its much-awaited smart band – Mi Band 5 that comes with some major upgrades over its predecessor. Xiaomi has launched two variants of the Mi Band 5 – one with NFC and another one without NFC support. Apart from this, there is no difference between both of the variants.

Mi Band 5 Specifications and Features

The newly launched Mi Band 5 comes with a 1.1-inch display which is slightly larger than the predecessor’s 0.95-inch screen. Just like the predecessor, the display on Mi Band 5 can also be customized with the large selection of official and third-party designs. Animated watch faces are also on the menu.

As for the sensors onboard, the Mi Band 5 comes with a regular suite of sensors including accelerometer, heart rate monitor, barometer, and gyroscope. It was rumored that the Mi Band 5 would come with SpO2 tracking, however, that’s ending up false. The Mi Band 5 can now extract data related to your REM sleep.

Apart from this, the fitness tracker comes with 11 professional sports mode.hey are fine-tuned and provide some detailed insight and precise tracking. The band itself can be submerged in up to 50 meters of water. A PAI (Personal Activity Intelligence) score is also now available which gives you a bit more insight into how impactful was your workout on your overall well-being and fitness.

In addition to this, the heart monitoring has also been improved with the latest band and it can now detect abnormalities and notify you – just like the Apple Watch. Moreover, the new PPG sensor is 50% more accurate than its predecessor.

Lastly, the new Mi Band 5 is fuelled by a battery that Xiaomi claims to deliver 14 days backup. Xiaomi has also improved the charger of the band with a magnetic charging feature.

Mi Band 5 Price and Availability

As for the price, the new Mi Band 5 is priced at CNY 189 (approx Rs. 2,000) price tag for the regular version and CNY 229 (approx Rs. 2,400) for the NFC-enabled one. Xiaomi will start selling its new watch on June 18 in its home country.
