Xiaomi AI Speaker will utilize voice-controlled features and would allow customers to control other smart Xiaomi products by voice, such as you can ask it questions regarding the weather, news, measurements, ask it to set a reminder, alarm or timer, control your home automation devices, play music, audiobooks, podcasts, and more. With the phone app, you can install add-ons and plugins to add additional functionality such as taking calls, delivering notifications and reminders. Xiaomi has also said that there will be a large online library with stream content for the AI Speaker.

In terms of design, The Mi AI Speaker is vertical, rectangular shaped speaker likely similar to Amazon Echo, with a multi-colored LED ring notification band around the edge at the top that lights up when the speaker is on along with controls for music playback. There is total six-microphone array for 360-degree audio sensing that can pick up sounds from up to 16 meters away.

It also comes with advanced echo cancellation. The device has a triple driver layout, with a bottom firing driver and two side firing units. Xiaomi claims deliver “excellent audio quality” – one in the base and two on the sides.
