Earlier this month, Xiaomi has started rolling out the Android 8.0 Oreo beta update for its first Android One smartphone, Xiaomi Mi A1. Now, the company has started rolling out the stable Android 8.0 Oreo update to Mi A1 smartphone. The company keeps its promise to bring the stable Android Oreo update to users before the end of this year. Xiaomi also said that it will also be one of the first phones to get Android P.

The update is 1107.4MB in size and being rolled out in the form of an over-the-air (OTA) update. The update should pop up in the notification as soon as it becomes available and Mi A1 users can also manually check for the update by heading to Settings > About Phone > System Updates > Check for update. Notably, you need to be running v7.12.19 (Android N) to get this v7.12.29 (Android O) update.
Apart from Android 8.0 Oreo, the update also brings Android security update for December 2017. The update brings enhanced battery life with improved Doze on Go mode that offers better background app limitation. It comes with all Android 8.0 Oreo features including Picture-in-Picture (PIP), Snoozing individual notification, Adaptive icons, Keyboard navigation, AAudio API for Pro Audio, WebView enhancements and much more.
To recall, the Xiaomi Mi A1 runs on Android 7.1.2 Nougat operating system and sports 5.5” full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display protected with Corning Gorilla Glass. The smartphone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC coupled with Adreno 506 GPU. The Device offers 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage which can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD card.
The biggest highlight of the smartphone is dual rare camera setup with a combination of two 12MP sensors; one is the wide-angle lens with 1.25-micron pixel sensor and f/2.2 aperture, and the other one is a telephoto lens with 1-micron pixel sensor, an f/2.6 aperture. The smartphone supports 2x optical zoom and 10x digital zoom. The smartphone also comes with comes with stereoscopic imaging and deep learning algorithm to deliver impressive portrait shots with depth of field and Bokeh effects.
The Xiaomi Mi A1 is fueled by a 3080mAh battery; connectivity options include dual-SIM support, 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, USB Type-C port, and 3.5mm headphone jack. Sensors on board the Xioami M A1 include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, infrared, magnetometer, and proximity sensor. It comes with dual graphite sheet, which decreases the temperature by 2-degree. On the audio front, it features with 10V smart PA, DHS Audio Calibration Algorithm, and support for high impedance headphones. It measures at 155.4×75.8×7.3mm and weighs 168 grams.
