Xiaomi Mi A1 Android 8.0 Oreo Update Resumes with January Security Update


Xiaomi Mi A1 Android 8.0 Oreo Update was rolled out on Dec. 31, soon after, Xiaomi halted the rollout due to various issues including battery drain, random reboots, freezing of the dialer app, HD SIM notification and malfunctioning of ambient display notifications had been reported by users.

Now the company has released a new edition of Android 8.0 Oreo update with version number OPR1.170623., along with bug fixes the update also includes the Android Security patch for January 2018.

The update brings several bug fixes including Bluetooth Battery drain issues, random reboots, Unresponsiveness of dialer app, GPS icon stuck, DND volume UI problem, brings back fingerprint gestures, Phone app freeze/delay, Audio quality for video recording, Wrong rapid charging message, App is running in background notification, and SIM HD notification. However, some users are still complaining about a slow camera app.

The update is about 90MB in size for those who have already installed the Android Oreo update earlier. Users who did not install the original Oreo update and are still running on Android Nougat, they have to download the Android Oreo update that has a size of 1,112.4 MB.

The update is gradually rolling out and might take a little while before it gets to your device. You can also check the update manually by clicking on Settings > About Phone > System updates; you’ll see your update status.
