Xiaomi Mi 9 with Snapdragon 855 SoC, 48MP Triple Cameras Launched


Xiaomi has officially launched its latest flagship smartphone Xiaomi Mi 9 at an event held in Beijing, China. Xiaomi Mi 9 is the successor of the Xiaomi Mi 8 which was launched back in 2018. In addition to Mi 9, Xiaomi has launched Mi 9 Explorer Edition featuring a transparent back panel. Xiaomi Mi 9 is launched with the company’s first triple rear camera setup with 48-megapixels sensor. In addition, this flagship smartphone is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC.

Xiaomi Mi 9 Price

Xiaomi Mi 9 is launched at a price of RMB 2,999 (~Rs 32,000) for the 6GB+128GB variant, while the 8GB+256GB variants will be going live for RMB 3,299 (~Rs 35,000). In addition, Xiaomi Mi 9 Transparent Edition which has 12GB RAM+256GB Internal Space will be available at RMB 3,999 (~Rs 42,300). On the other hand, Mi 9 SE is priced at RMB 1,999 (~Rs 21,000) for 6GB+64GB variant while 6GB+128GB variant will cost RMB 2,299 (~Rs 24,300).

All of these three smartphones will be going live for pre-orders from 6 pm local time today, while the official sales of these smartphones will kick-off on February 26, 10 am onwards. All of these phones will available to buy on the official website of Xiaomi and on some e-commerce sites like Tmall, JD.com etc.

Xiaomi Mi 9 Specifications

The all-new Xiaomi Mi 9 comes with 6.39 Full-HD+ Notch display with AMOLED panel which is further protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6. It has a waterdrop notch screen with 90.7% screen-to-body ratio. In addition, the screen brightness can hike up to 600nits. Also, there is Dark Mode provided which can reduce the power usage by 83% than normal.

There is 20-megapixel selfie camera fitted on the notch to capture highly-detailed selfies. While at the back, Xiaomi has provided it’s first ever triple camera setup. Out of which, the primary camera is Sony IMX586 48MP Quad Pixel sensor with 0.8-micron pixel size and f/1.75 aperture, while there is a 12MP f/2.2 telephoto sensor and a 16MP sensor with 117-degree wide angle lens.

Xiaomi Mi 9 runs on the latest MIUI 10 which is based on the latest Android 9 Pie. This is the first smartphone by Xiaomi to be powered by the latest Qualcomm’s Octa-core Snapdragon 855 SoC based on a 7nm architecture which is further coupled with Adreno 640 GPU. This phone comes with a Turbo Boost Mode to deliver high-end gaming performance. Also, Xiaomi Mi 9 is packed up with an optical In-display fingerprint sensor which is claimed to be 25% faster than the previous generations sensors.

As for the connectivity options are concerned, Xiaomi Mi 9 comes with Dual-Nano SIM support with Dual 4G VoLTE standby. Also, there is Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, dual-frequency GPS, IR Blaster, and USB type-C port. In addition, Mi 9 comes with 3,300 mAh battery with the support for 27W fast charging. Also, this phone supports wireless charging upto 20W.

Xiaomi Mi 9 Explorer Edition is also launched with Mi 9 at the event. Mi 9 Explorer Edition is provided with a Transparent look at the back panel showing the mechanism bundled in the phone. Apart from this, Xiaomi Mi 9 Explorer Edition has almost the same features as Mi 9, however, it supports fast charging upto 40W and comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of Internal Storage.

Xiaomi Mi 9 SE is also launched in the row with other two phones. It is a smaller version of Mi 9 featuring a 5.97-inch display, 48MP+8MP+13MP triple rear camera and 3,070 mAh battery with 18W fast charging. Mi 9 SE will be available in a 6GB version with two storage options, 64GB and 128GB. Also, Mi 9 SE will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 SoC instead of Snapdragon 855 SoC which is available at Mi 9.
