WhatsApp releases its first Picture-in-Picture mode on Android

Before now, a lot had been rumored about WhatsApp releasing a Picture-in-picture mode back in October; which will give the messaging platform users the ability to play Videos on the platform directly from Instagram, Facebook as well as YouTube, by opening a floating window inside the app.

WhatsApp Picture-in-PIcture or PiP mode runs on all Android smartphones with full compatibility on the latest version of WhatsApp, which you can access and install from Google Play Store.

However, unlike before, the new feature is designed in a way to enable users to play videos on Facebook, Instagram or YouTube alike while they can still access and use other of the WhatsApp’s chat features on a go. What this means is that you don’t have to leave your WhatsApp screen or be redirected to Facebook, YouTube or other video playing platforms to watch your favorite videos while chatting; Unlike before when users would have to leave the app on clicking to other external pages.

WhatsApp PiP mode plays the video at the top left corner of your chat screen with adjustable features to fullscreen or half while still using other features or chatting. Users can as well access and load videos by scrolling through other group threads and chats not minding what source it was previously played from.
