WhatsApp is Testing a New ‘Share to Facebook Story’ Button

WhatsApp is testing a new feature which lets users share WhatsApp Status directly on Facebook’s Story. This is indeed an anticipated feature that WhatsApp is bringing for the common users. The feature has been under development mode for a while and they are planning to release it with the next update.

If you are a beta tester of WhatsApp, then you should see this new feature on the latest Beta edition of the app. Interestingly, this new Share to Facebook Story app will work without integrating your Facebook account. You don’t need to link your Facebook’s Profile link. This new feature will work with the new data-sharing API and with other third party apps to share data directly on Facebook.

The aim behind bringing this feature to WhatsApp is to let users share the same story on multiple platforms. The same feature will work with other applications such as Instagram, Gmail, or Google Photos.

Just like Instagram’s Story and Facebook’s Story feature, WhatsApp too has its own Status section where users can add photos, videos, texts which will disappear automatically from the profile after 24 hours.

Facebook has clearly denied on merging two services with this feature. The story that you share on Facebook through your WhatsApp app, will be separated on both the platforms. You don’t need to link your Facebook’s Account to WhatsApp and Vice Versa.

WhatsApp was acquired by Facebook in the year 2014. Whatsapp had promised during the acquisition that they will not share users’ data with Facebook ever. By launching this new feature, many people believe that Facebook is trying to get the phone numbers of its users. However, Facebook has denied doing this and will keep this new feature separate from the Facebook app.

We have to accept the fact that the new Status sharing feature will not be done automatically. You have to manually select the Sharing button to share it on not just Facebook but on Instagram, Google Photos etc. There will be a number of sharing buttons available on the sharing page allowing users to share the status on whichever platform they like.
