WhatsApp Finally Brings Fingerprint Unlock Feature For Android Users
WhatsApp had made an announcement on Thursday about its new fingerprint unlock feature for Android devices. This Facebook-owned company has already brought touch Id and Face Id feature in iPhone earlier this year. In the month of August, the company rolled out a beta version with a fingerprint unlocking feature. On Thursday it officially launched the update for everyone out there. Just update your app to the latest version to enjoy this feature.
If you are using an Android device that has a fingerprint sensor, then you can enjoy this feature in it. The one thing that you have to remember here is that the WhatsApp version should be 2.19.308. Now you don’t have to use any third-party app to lock and unlock the WhatsApp.
WhatsApp has been fallen prey for a hack recently and the company faced fallout in its suit against spyware maker NSO group. There are allegations that the NSO Group is behind this hack.
How To set Fingerprint Lock For WhatsApp?
After updating your app to the latest version, go to the settings option, then open account and privacy. In the privacy section, you will find fingerprint lock option. Just register your fingerprint in the app once and set the timer when you want the app to get locked.Image Credit: Fonearena
The widget content of the app will be hidden but you can still answer the calls or reply to any messages right from the notification panel only. If you want to enter the app, then you have to authenticate your fingerprint. If you don’t want to see the content in notifications, there is an option for you to just turn it off. This way the content present in the messages won’t be broadcasted.
WhatsApp for iOS also has face ID unlocking option and Android users have to wait for some time to enjoy this feature.
