Facebook-owned WhatsApp has been one of the most widely used and famous messenger apps. The company always brings new features and options to the platform to make it fresh and better. Earlier it was rumored that WhatsApp was testing a new feature called “Disappearing Messages” but its function wasn’t clear until now.
And now, that old rumored feature spotted again in the latest beta of WhatsApp for Android. The features have since been refined and renamed to “Delete messages” and lets the users’ messages expire after a selected amount of time, either an hour, day, week, month, or year.
This feature was spotted by WABetaInfo. As per the report from WABetaInfo, the feature is intended to keep group message conversations from taking up too much storage on smartphones. But one thing to note about this feature is, Delete messages’ for a group chat is only accessible by the group chat’s administrator so the setting would apply to all participants of the group chat.
As of now, only this much of information has been revealed from the latest WhatsApp beta. However, we will have a clearer vision on this feature in the final release of WhatsApp for Android.
