What you need to know before buying MagSafe charger for Apple iPhone 12 mini

If you are buying the new iPhone 12 Mini then you may want to skip Apple’s new MagSafe wireless charger which offers wireless charging speeds of up to 15W. This is because the charging speed on the iPhone 12 mini is limited to just 12W. So, even if you buy Apple’s 20W power adapter to use the MagSafe charger at full capacity of 15W, you will only get up to 12W wireless charging speeds on the iPhone 12 mini.
As per a report by MacRumors, Apple has confirmed the same in its support page and said, “The actual power delivered to the iPhone will vary depending on the wattage of the power adapter and system conditions. For iPhone 12 mini, the MagSafe Charger delivers up to 12W of peak power delivery.”
The MagSafe charger costs Rs 4,500 in India. To use the MagSafe Charger with your iPhone 12 Mini cover you will have to buy a MagSafe compatible case which starts at Rs 4,900. If you want to get the fastest wireless charging speed, which is 15W, then you will have to spend another Rs 1,900 for the 20W USB-C power adapter from Apple. But as you will not get the maximum 15W charging speed, you might say well use a third-party adapter to even wireless chargers to charge the iPhone 12.
Using third-party wireless chargers may offer anywhere around 6W to 10W of charging speeds at a fraction of the cost. Having said that, buying third partyMagSafe accessories like wireless chargers inside cars or car mounts or other accessories that will be launched in future may offer more value than getting the MagSafe charger for iPhone 12 mini.
