Cisco has integrated generative AI technology into its web conferencing offering, Webex, providing it with summarisation functionality.
The new feature, known as Catch Me Up, enables users to catch up on missed meetings, calls and chats through intelligent meeting summaries that highlight key points. According to a press release, this feature will save users a significant amount of time, eliminating the need to listen to recordings or read through transcripts.
This enhancement is part of Cisco’s drive to support a hybrid workforce and its efforts to continually improve Webex, which has included partnering with Audi to offer the platform in select vehicles by 2024. The plan is for meetings to be available only through audio when the car is in motion, with video kicking in when parked, making the connected car another extension of the hybrid workplace. Commenting on this initiative, Jeetu Patel, Cisco’s EVP and general manager of collaboration and security, said that collaborating with leading car manufacturers such as Audi is key to empowering customers to work effectively and securely, wherever they operate.
Cisco has worked with other car manufacturers in the past, including Ford.
