Two voice actors from the popular video game Genshin Impact have taken to social media to express their frustration over not being paid for their work. Brandon Winckler, who is credited for multiple characters in the game, revealed on Twitter that they have been waiting over three months for payment and have received no response to their requests. Winckler stated that they will no longer work on the game unless it is under a Union contract. Corina Boettger, who voices the character Paimon, also spoke out about struggling to pay rent due to delayed compensation. They emphasized the importance of unionization and mentioned that it is unclear whether the payment issue lies with miHoYo or the third-party studio, Formosa Group, responsible for the game’s English language dub. Formosa Group has a history of poor working conditions and experienced a recent CEO departure. The game’s publisher, HoYoverse, expressed regret over the situation and voiced support for the actors, promising to address the issue and keep everyone informed. NME has reached out to Formosa Group for comment.
In unrelated gaming news, Ubisoft’s business development and brand partnership team revealed that the highly anticipated game Assassin’s Creed Codename Red is set for release in 2024, promising an immersive shinobi fantasy experience.
