Vivo Y83: World’s first MediaTek Helio P22 SoC Powered Smartphone Launched


Vivo has launched a new mid-range smartphone dubbed as Vivo Y83 in China. The smartphone comes with the price tag of 1498 Yuan ($235/ Rs 16,000 approx.). It comes in Aurora White, Polar Black and Red colour options and is available to purchase via Vivo online shop in China.

The main highlight of the Vivo Y83 is the recently announced MediaTek Helio P22 processor. The mid-range processor is designed to deliver advanced AI features with the help of Mediatek’s Neuropilot tech which comes with support for TensorFlow, TF Lite, Caffe, and Caffe2.

Talking about the specifications, the Vivo Y83 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system with Funtouch OS 4.0 skin on top. it sports a 6.22” HD+ (1520 x 720 pixels) 19:9 notch display. As mentioned above, the smartphone is powered by the latest MediaTek Helio P22 octa-core processor coupled with PowerVR GE8320 GPU. It offers 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 256GB via microSD card.

For photography, the Vivo Y83 comes with a 13MP primary with f/2.2 aperture and LED flash support for better lowlight capturing. On the front, it has an 8MP selfie shooter with f/2.2 aperture and AI features such as AI Makeup and customized beauty effects. The front camera also equipped with facial recognition technology to unlock the device.

The Vivo Y83 is fuelled by a 3260mAh battery. Connectivity options include Dual-SIM support, 4G VoLTE, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.2, GLONASS, GPS, 3.5mm headphone jack, and micro USB port. It measures 155.21 x 75.24 x 7.7 mm and weighs 150 grams.
