Vivo had showcased the world’s first in-display fingerprint sensor on a smartphone at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2018. It was expected that the first phone to feature the in-display fingerprint sensor will be Vivo X20 Plus UD. Earlier this month, the smartphone had been spotted on 3C certification listing and later on the smartphone had also received certification from TENAA. Now, Vivo has officially announced that the Vivo X20 Plus with an in-display fingerprint variant will be unveiled to the world on Jan. 24.
The above poster confirms that Vivo is holding the launch event of Vivo X20 Plus in-display fingerprint edition at 751D Park, Beijing, China on Jan. 24 at 7:30 PM local time. However, the poster doesn’t reveal the specification and pricing of the smartphone but it is expected to feature quite similar specifications to the X20 Plus regular variant.
The Vivo X20 Plus UD is equipped with a Clear ID 9500 optical under-display fingerprint sensor by Synaptics. It can unlock the device in 0.6 or 0.7 seconds – slightly slower than the regular capacitive fingerprint sensors.Image source – mydrivers
Earlier rumors suggested that the Vivo X20 Plus UD would be carrying a price tag of 3,999 Yuan ($625/ Rs. 39936 approx) but the official price has yet to be revealed.
Talking about the specifications, the Vivo X20 Plus runs on FunTouch OS based on Android 7.1 Nougat operating system. It sports a 6.43” Full-HD+ (2160×1080 pixels) FullView AMOLED display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone is powered by a 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 octa-core processor. It offers 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage which can be further expandable up to 256GB via MicroSD card.
For photography, the Vivo X20 Plus sports a dual-camera setup with a combination of a 24MP primary camera with f/1.8 aperture, OIS, and a secondary 5MP shooter. On the front, it has a 12MP shooter with f/2.0 aperture and soft LED flash.
The smartphone is fueled by a 3800mAh battery with fast charging support. Connectivity options include Dual-SIM support, 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.0, WiFi, GPS, and USB Type-C port. It measures 165.2 x 80.02 x 7.35 mm and weighs 183.1 grams.
