Unlocking dual archetypes in Remnant 2: A comprehensive guide

Unlocking Dual Archetypes in Remnant 2

In Remnant 2, you can unlock dual archetypes as you progress through the game. By defeating bosses and discovering tomes of knowledge, you can collect trait points which are essential for unlocking this feature.

Once you have obtained ten trait points, you need to purchase an engram for your preferred second archetype from a merchant in Ward 13. Additionally, you will need ten Lumenite crystals and 1,000 scrap.

Talk to Wallace to craft the archetype engram and then slot it into your character screen. This will allow you to start using your second archetype.

How to Unlock Dual Archetypes

Follow these steps to unlock dual archetypes in Remnant 2:

  • Defeat bosses
  • Discover Tomes of Knowledge
  • Collect ten trait points

Changing Your Archetype

In Remnant 2, you can change your base archetype by purchasing the appropriate item from a merchant in Ward 13. However, this process is expensive and your archetype progress does not carry over.

Here are the archetype items and the corresponding merchants:

  • Dr. Norah: Medic Pin (Medic archetype)
  • Mudtooth: Broken Whistle (Handler archetype)
  • Brabus: Rusty Medal (Hunter archetype)
  • Reggie: Old Metal Tool (Challenger archetype)

If you did not pre-order the game, you can unlock the Gunslinger archetype through this method or wait until it becomes available later in the game. To change your base archetype, take the item to Wallace and craft an archetype engram. Then, equip the item in the character menu. Keep in mind that this will reset your progress to power level 1.

Understanding Prime Perks

Your first archetype gains a Prime perk, but the secondary class does not have access to a Prime perk. Consider experimenting with different archetype combinations to utilize the Prime perk that suits your playstyle the best.

Here are the Prime perks for each archetype in Remnant 2:

  • Gunslinger – Loaded: Activating a Gunslinger skill instantly reloads both firearms and grants infinite ammo for a short period of time.
  • Medic – Regenerator: The Medic regenerates additional relic charges by healing themselves and allies.
  • Hunter – Dead to Rights: The Hunter can extend the duration of their active skills by dealing ranged weakspot damage.
  • Handler – Bonded: When the Handler is downed, their companion will attempt to revive them.
  • Challenger – Die Hard: Upon taking fatal damage, the Challenger brushes off death and returns to battle.
