Uber is currently in the process of developing an AI-powered chatbot that will be integrated into its apps, aiming to enhance the overall customer experience.
In a recent interview with Bloomberg, Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi disclosed that the company has been utilizing AI and machine learning in various aspects of its operations for a considerable period of time. While the implementation has predominantly been on the backend, Uber now intends to bring an AI chatbot to the forefront.
Although Khosrowshahi did not provide specific details on how the AI chatbot will function and enhance the customer experience, he did elaborate on the current utilization of AI technology within the company. “When a customer is matched with a car or a courier, algorithms driven by machine learning come into play, considering factors such as the time of day and distance,” he stated.
As for the timeline and roadmap of Uber’s AI chatbot, these details have yet to be clarified.
The Bloomberg report also mentioned that Uber’s competitors, DoorDash and Instacart, are also involved in the development of chatbot technology. DoorDash is working on a chatbot called DashAI, which will facilitate food ordering and allow customers to explore new options through the app. On the other hand, Instacart introduced “Ask Instacart” in May, a chatbot that leverages OpenAI’s API to respond to inquiries about food preparation.
