Trailer of Star Wars Outlaws Gameplay Teases Distinctive Open-World, Aerial Battles, and Additional Features.

Ubisoft Massive’s latest offering, Star Wars Outlaws, is an open-world action game set in a galaxy far, far away. The game boasts an original story and gameplay that promises to be immersive, and the recently released gameplay trailer gives us a glimpse of what to expect. During the Ubisoft Forward Live event, the publisher not only shared some key details about the game’s story and characters but also showcased the game’s maps, which are synonymous with the Ubisoft brand. As the in-house Massive Entertainment takes charge of the game, players can look forward to charting an intergalactic heist in the Outer Rim, all while the Empire expands its reach across the galaxy. Star Wars Outlaws was first announced at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 11 and will release sometime in 2024, across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X.

The gameplay trailer features Kay Vess, a cunning scoundrel, and Nix, an adorably furry axolotl-like alien, on an intergalactic heist mission. Kay relies on Nix’s special abilities to hack and distract enemies, much like the relationship between the Jedi and the BD-1 droid in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. The gameplay is largely stealth-based, but the action breaks out into an all-out firefight at times. Kay has access to various blaster modules, which she can cycle through to stun or deal heavy damage to break enemy shields. While the blaster is her primary weapon, she can also pick up random weapons to gain advantages over her enemies.

Star Wars Outlaws is an original arc set between Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars: Return of the Jedi movies, taking Kay and Nix on a journey across the underworld to take risky contracts and manage complex relationships with crime syndicates to pull off the greatest heist in the galaxy. The game is open-world, and players can explore different biomes, inhabitants, and impactful stories in the Outer Rim. The gameplay trailer also showcases Kay’s traversal options, including a hovering motorcycle equipped with a nitrous booster, which allows players to evade enemies or reach their destination quicker. Additionally, time slows down briefly when Kay is riding the motorcycle, allowing her to target foes and unload a barrage of bullets into them.

“In our game, you’ll be able to discover a galaxy of opportunities as you explore distinct locations across the Outer Rim, that offer a range of different biomes, inhabitants, rewarding finds, impactful stories, and diversity of gameplay,” says Julian Gerighty, creative director of Star Wars Outlaws. The game will be spread across three key experiences – dense cities bustling with NPCs and cantinas, vast open-world environments for exploration, and a space setting where players can engage in intense dogfights and even travel across hyperspace. The game also features a ship, the Trailblazer, which Kay sees as a symbol of freedom, allowing her to escape and embark on her journey.

Star Wars Outlaws is certainly keeping up with Ubisoft’s reputation of creating immersive, exciting open-world games while providing a unique perspective on the Star Wars universe. Players can look forward to experiencing the incredible world of Star Wars Outlaws in 2024, across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X.
