TikTok is revolutionizing user logins with its latest trend: passkeys on iPhones. In an effort to combat password-stealing phishing attacks, the popular social media app has announced support for this new feature. Instead of using traditional passwords, users can now sign in to their TikTok accounts using Touch ID or Face ID. This enhanced security measure is made possible by Apple’s native implementation of passkeys, which are saved to the iCloud Keychain for seamless integration across all Apple devices.
To enable passkeys on TikTok, users simply need to access the app’s settings and select the dedicated passkey menu item. Then, they can follow a straightforward setup process: tap “Set up,” confirm their choice when prompted by the iOS system, and voila! Passkeys are now activated on their accounts.
One key advantage of passkeys is that the biometric data used for authentication is stored solely on the device. This means that even TikTok cannot access users’ fingerprint or Face ID data when logging in.

While passkey support is presently limited to iOS devices, TikTok plans to expand to other operating systems in the future. The initial rollout will commence in Asia, Africa, Australia, and South America this month, with the United States potentially seeing a delay in implementation.
