These OnePlus users should avoid updating to the latest Oxygen OS release

OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro users are recommended not to install the latest release of OxygenOS that was rolled out a couple of days back. This is because some users are reporting that on updating to the new Oxygen OS 11.0.1.1 version, all data on OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro phones are getting deleted automatically. The moment you reset the phone after updating to the new OxygenOS release, all data gets deleted and starts as a new phone.
Meanwhile, for other OnePlus phone users, it is highly recommended that you keep a backup of all your personal data before updating to a new OxygenOs version.

“It seems like some users are reporting receiving the Stable update over the Open Beta 3, leading to a full data wipe. This information was already shared with the software team so it can be checked and addressed. Meanwhile, if you receive an update OTA, please double-confirm if it’s an Open Beta update. If it isn’t, please DO NOT install it. We strongly suggest you to backup your key data via a cloud service, perform a full backup via OnePlus Switch, and transfer it to a computer or a USB drive for double insurance,” an employee took to the official OnePlus forum to announce the same.
It’s also important that you may want to turn off auto updates for some time until OnePlus fixes the issue. Some users reported that even downgrading to a lower software version won’t fix the issue.
“After my phone self updated and wiped lat evening; I downgraded to OOS 10, then updated to OB3 again, with full wipe; turned off Auto-download on wifi in settings. Thought that would fix any future updates…HA! I just woke up to the same update notification. Saying phone updated please reboot. It’s has now self updated and wiped itself againIt self updated regardless, that Auto-update on wifi setting,” said a user on the official forum.
