In preparation for the release of its Nothing Phone (2), Carl Pei’s Nothing is currently working on a major update for its Android-based operating system, Nothing OS 2.0. Mladen M. Hoyss, the Software Creative Director at Nothing, recently shared with XDA Developers some exciting details about the vision and design of the new operating system.
According to Hoyss, Nothing OS 2.0 aims to strike a balance between being minimalistic, personal, and intuitive, without compromising functionality or performance. This new OS may have some visual overlap with its predecessor, but it will undoubtedly be an entirely different product that is edgy and techy. The concept behind the new OS is “functional aesthetics,” which refers to organizing a lot of data in such a way that it’s easy to digest. One of the primary goals of the new OS is to reduce clutter and noise on the home screen in favor of bringing the most relevant and useful information and actions to the forefront.
Hoyss is firm that a phone’s home screen should show only information and apps that are tailored to its user’s interests. In addition, Nothing OS 2.0 will be available this summer, and there is much speculation whether it will debut along with the Nothing Phone (1) or launch on a different device.
The upcoming release of Nothing OS 2.0 is expected to be one of the highlights of the Nothing Phone (2), which Carl Pei has already confirmed and shared specific details about. With the goal of creating an entirely new, cutting-edge product, Nothing OS 2.0 will bring exciting updates to the mobile device and software landscape. Check out the interview with Mladen M. Hoyss, Software Creative Director at Nothing, on XDA Developers!
