The Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 is Leaner, Meaner, and Faster!

Qualcomm has launched its latest Snapdragon 712 processor to cater to the burgeoning chipset industry. The newest octa-core chip is an upgrade to Snapdragon 710 and has a 10-nm FinFET construction with Kyro 360 cores paired with a 616 Adreno GPU. As opposed to the previous cores of 710 that ran on 2.2GHz clock speed, the 712 is faster by 10% by clocking 2.3GHz. Even though the difference may not appear to be drastic, it definitely promises enhanced performance. The chip will also run on the Qualcomm AI engine as its predecessor 710.

Gamers will also notice an increased performance over this new chipset. In fact, in an official statement, Qualcomm revealed that Snapdragon 712 is aimed at delivering console-level gaming experience. Due to the boosted audio output and color, the multimedia experience would be much more immersive for the users.

The Snapdragon 712 delivers improved Bluetooth audio. This massive upgradation takes place due to Broadcast Audio, Qualcomm Aqstic Audio, and TrueWireless Stereo Plus technologies that are available on Snapdragon 712. Additionally, the 712 chipset offers support to 20MP dual cameras or 32MP single camera. It also supports video recording in 4K at 80fps while full HD recording is available at 120fps. The feature is introduced due to the inclusion of Spectra 250 Image Signal Processor. Moving on to the playback, 712 offers support to 4K Ultra HD videos to be played back on HDR 10 backed display that offers a maximum resolution of 1440×3360 pixels (QHD+)

However, what really steals the spotlight in the case of Snapdragon 712 is the introduction of QuickCharge 4.0+ for a quicker charge even on budget phones. As per tests, it is projected that the 712 can store from 0 to 50 percent juice in just a span of 15 minutes. This only means that there is enough juice available instantly for all devices.

While it is yet to be known when the chipset will hit the market on a large scale, we can expect the SoC to make an appearance on premium and mid-range smartphones.
