Among most of the new features and changes on Android 10, the Dark Mode is the most popular among them. The built-in dark mode toggle makes the Settings, SystemUI, and framework take on a darker shade of Material Design colors, but it also enables dark mode in supported third-party apps.
Google at the I/O Conference said they would be updating all of their major Android apps to have a dark theme before the release of stable Android 10. While the tech giant updated most of its apps with Dark mode, the latest in the collection are Gmail and Play Store.
Both Gmail and Play Store are getting the native dark mode support that enhances thier look to the best. As for Gmail, it was first noted by multiple users on Reddit. The latest version of the Gmail app for Android, version 2019.08.18.267044774 release, has a fully functioning dark mode. This was later confirmed by XDA Developers.
After enabling the dark theme, the background color becomes a dark gray color that is present in all folders in your inbox and in most emails. The version of the Gmail app that has the dark mode is rolling out on the Google Play Store. Still, many users have got the dark mode in their Gmail app; there are still many users to get this feature. As Google has started rolling out this feature to the latest update, users who haven’t got this update will soon get it.
Apart from Gmail, the tech giant also brought the dark mode in the Play Store. Like Gmail and other Google apps, the Play Store’s dark theme is a dark grey, and it looks pretty nice. As you might be able to see from the screenshots, the Play Store dark theme was first spotted by XDA. Although XDA often messes with APKs to get them to show unique or unreleased features, it appears that this one was simply the result of one of Google’s famous server-side tests.
