No charging adapter or free EarPods, Apple has trimmed the box contents along with the size of the box with the launch of the new iPhone 12 series phones. The only free accessory that you will get with iPhone 12 series phones is a USB-C to Lightning cable for charging and data transfer needs. While Apple is defending this decision to not provide any freebies as a step to be environment friendly, experts are calling this step as a massive cost cutting measure to help Apple launch iPhones with 5G support for a price that is similar to the launch price of iPhone 11.
So, inside the box of a brand new iPhone 12, you will only have the phone and the charging cable. Does it matter? Well, the 5W wall adapter is of little use but EarPods do come handy for people who do not own AirPods. As Apple is continuing with the old Lightning port, you will either need a wireless headphone or AirPod to listen to music, unless you want to hunt your old EarPods.
The good thing about charging cable is that it offers a Type-C port on the other end. This means you can connect the iPhone 12 to the wall adapter of your MacBook to fast charge. More importantly, you can now easily connect the iPhone 12 to your MacBook to transfer data without the need for an adapter or a new cable. The old Lightning to Type-A cable for iPhones made little sense in the Apple ecosystem.
As for other adapters, you will be able to connect the new charging cable of iPhone 12 to any wall socket that comes with USB Type-C port.
