The Medium has been pushed back to January of next year as a result of “other games on the market.”
Cyberpunk 2077’s decision to delay to December of this year seems to have now had wide-ranging effects on other forthcoming releases.
Developer Bloober Team announced today that it has made the choice to push back its upcoming horror game The Medium to 2021 with the reason for doing so directly correlating with the launch of Cyberpunk 2077. In a statement posted to its social media account, Bloober Team cited that the reason for the delay stems from “the COVID-19 situation in Poland, as well as the current schedule of other games on the market.” While not outright mentioned, that latter point is clearly in reference to Cyberpunk. The game’s new release date is now set for January 28, 2021.

Honestly, this is a pretty savvy decision by Bloober Team and will surely only benefit The Medium in the long run. Cyberpunk 2077 is set to likely be the biggest game released in 2020 and for it to have gone head-to-head with The Medium on December 10 would have only buried the latter game in the minds of many, unfortunately. Plus, Bloober Team says it now has more time to polish The Medium prior to its arrival in January, which isn’t a bad thing whatsoever.
The Medium is set to arrive on Xbox Series X/S and PC when it does ship in early 2021. Until that time, Bloober Team says it will still be sharing a lot more info about the title as we near its launch.
