The Last of Us Part I on PS5 Offers 2-Hour Free Trial for PS Plus Deluxe/ Premium Members

The Last of Us Part I is now offering a two-hour free trial for subscribers of the PS Plus Deluxe/Premium plan. This exclusive PS5 remake of the beloved Naughty Dog game coincides with the release of the highly anticipated television series adaptation starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey. The first episode of the HBO show premiered in the US on Sunday and became available on Disney+ Hotstar in India on Monday morning. Renowned for its faithful recreation of the original 2013 PS3 game, which was itself remastered for the PS4 in 2014, Naughty Dog’s “remake” takes players on the same emotionally charged journey of Joel, a hardened loner, and Ellie, a resilient teenager, as they navigate a post-apocalyptic America. The PS5 version introduces a variety of technical improvements that enhance the overall experience.

The full version of The Last of Us Part I, which is currently exclusive to the PS5, is priced at Rs. 4,999, making it a significant investment, particularly for those who have already played the original or its PS4 remaster. Fortunately, this two-hour trial period provides ample opportunity to evaluate the game and make an informed decision regarding its value at full price. In terms of visual enhancements, The Last of Us Part I on the PS5 boasts 4K resolution and offers a native 30fps framerate, with the option of a smooth 60fps at dynamic settings. The DualSense controller’s haptic feedback and trigger effects add immersive elements to the gameplay experience. Additionally, character models have been updated to resemble those seen in the divisive and gruesome sequel, The Last of Us Part II. Enemy AI demonstrates increased intelligence, bullets can now penetrate environmental objects, and there’s even a punishing “permadeath” mode for masochistic players.

A subscription to PS Plus Deluxe/Premium starts at Rs. 849 per month and offers seamless multiplayer across both PS4 and PS5, access to a monthly selection of free games, cloud storage, game trials, and a collection of timeless PS Classics titles. Sony recently unveiled nine new titles for subscribers of PS Plus Extra and Deluxe, including Devil May Cry 5, Life is Strange, and Back 4 Blood, among others.

Despite being a remake, The Last of Us Part I garnered acclaim for its innovation in accessibility and was nominated in the corresponding category at The Game Awards 2022. Although it ultimately lost to God of War Ragnarök, the game offered over 60 accessibility options tailored to players with visual, auditory, and motor impairments. A PC version of The Last of Us Part I was expected to launch shortly after the PS5 release, but Naughty Dog seems to be taking its time. The PC version is now scheduled to launch on March 3 through both Steam and the Epic Games Store.

The Last of Us Part I currently offers a two-hour free trial exclusively for PS Plus Deluxe/Premium subscribers, with membership starting at Rs. 849 per month. The standard edition of the game is priced at Rs. 4,999 and is available exclusively on the PS5.
