Take-Two Interactive, the owner of Rockstar, has once again hinted at a potential release date for GTA 6, suggesting it will be no later than March 2025.
Last year, analysts speculated that the highly anticipated next installment of the popular gaming franchise could be released during Take-Two’s Fiscal Year 2024, which ends on March 31, 2024. This speculation was based on the publisher’s net bookings. However, the latest forecasts provided by the publisher for its upcoming fiscal years indicate lower expected net bookings in FY2024, implying that if these bookings are related to the release of GTA 6, the game is likely to be released during FY2025.
Fast forward three months, and Take-Two has once again expressed its high expectations for the next fiscal year. During the company’s recent financial earnings call with investors, Lainie Goldstein, the Chief Financial Officer, reaffirmed this optimism (via Seeking Alpha).
“In closing, we are confident that the actions our teams are taking this year are preparing us for a strong trajectory of growth,” stated Goldstein. “Through our collective efforts, we firmly believe that we are positioning our business for a significant turning point in fiscal 2025, which will result in new record levels of operating performance in the coming years. We extend our gratitude to all stakeholders for their continued support, and we eagerly anticipate the exciting next chapter.”
If Goldstein’s remarks about “a significant turning point” and “new record levels of operating performance” during Fiscal Year 2025 are indeed referring to the release of GTA 6, it strongly suggests that the game will be released no later than March 2025 (as the company’s FY2025 ends on March 31, 2025).
Earlier this year, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick stated that the next entry in the GTA series would need to set new standards and be unlike anything players have seen before. According to Zelnick, each game in the franchise should be “something you’ve never seen before on the one hand, and it needs to reflect the feeling we have about Grand Theft Auto.”
