Fast X has become the latest victim of a trap the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been making its own since the beginning of Phase Four. Despite garnering over $600 million at the box office and an audience approval rating of 84% on Rotten Tomatoes, moviegoers have begun to show the same kind of cynicism to Fast X that has been shown to Marvel’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love and Thunder, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, among others, which have all been lambasted by social media users after opening weekend.

While the film may not live up to the highest standards of cinema, it is interesting to see how quickly audience opinion can change once a blockbuster leaves the big screen and moves to small screens upon its release on digital and on-demand.
Director Louis Leterrier may not have delivered the finest entry in The Fast Saga, but does it truly deserve to be pilloried mere moments after roaring into homes around the world? That’s up for debate, but it’s worth noting how quickly the tides can turn for even the most successful films.
