The internet never has a dull moment, constantly buzzing with the most significant and bizarre updates. From educational content on politics, spirituality, and economics to showcasing wacky and peculiar choices people make, the internet leads a path to capturing a diverse information.

Recently, a video from Tarn Taran in Punjab has caught the internet’s attention for its outlandish display. In the video, a replica of the Statue of Liberty is seen being placed atop an under-construction building in a village. The video, posted by social media user Alok Jain, has garnered over 120,000 views on X (formerly Twitter). Locals are seen positioning the replica of the iconic American monument on the building’s rooftop, with a crane visible near the construction site, likely used to lift the grand structure.

The video has elicited a wave of hilarious reactions from social media users. One user commented, “Must be a water tank. You will find airplanes, SUVs, and all sorts of shaped water tanks in Punjab.” Another user, referencing Punjab’s significant diaspora in Canada, quipped, “Ideally, they should have built Niagara Falls so that Canada is not missed.” A third user joked, “Now people can visit this house to see the Statue of Liberty, no need to fly to New York.”

Meanwhile, it is pertinent to note that this quirky construction isn’t an isolated incident. Earlier, in March an NRI named Dalbir Singh, who resides in Canada, has built a replica of the Statue of Liberty on a house roof in the Jalandhar district of Punjab. Further, reports of people building replicas of the Taj Mahal-inspired houses have also made headlines in the past. In 2023, a businessman from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, built a mini Taj Mahal memorial house for his late mother in Ammaiyappan near Tiruvarur. The construction, which cost him ₹5 crores, gained significant attention. Similarly, in 2021, a man from Burhanpur, Madhya Pradesh, gifted his wife a home resembling the Taj Mahal, a project that took almost three years to complete.
