‘Star Wars Outlaws’ Announces Inclusion of ‘Red Dead Redemption’-Inspired Wanted System

The highly anticipated open-world game from the Star Wars franchise, Star Wars Outlaws, is set to introduce an innovative and exciting feature to its gameplay in the form of a wanted system. Players of the game will find similarities to other popular open-world games like Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption in the wanted system. The creative team behind Star Wars Outlaws recently released a video showcasing the system in action, with creative director Julian Gerighty explaining how the system will work within the game’s universe.

“If you are caught or challenge the Empire you’re going to start to get wanted, and if you continue, you persist and you do even more actions, that wanted level’s just going to go up,” said Gerighty as he demonstrated the system in the video. The police presence within the game will increase as the player’s wanted level increases and reaching the highest levels of wanted status will trigger the Empire to bring out their strongest resistance forces to tackle the player.

Star Wars Outlaws, set to launch in 2024, will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and the game’s first trailer was recently released, featuring the protagonist of the game, Kay Vess, on the run from bounty hunters. While the entire impact of the Wanted system on gameplay isn’t clear yet, it is a promising feature that will undoubtedly enhance the overall gaming experience for players.
