Spotify will Permanently Block Accounts of Users who use Ad-Blockers

Spotify is one of the Popular web services which lets its users to play millions of songs on their device either be it a smartphone, tablet or PC. As you are aware of the fact that, they offer two subscriptions to their users, one is Premium Subscription which costs $9.99 per month and another one is free-subscription. The mean difference between both of these subscriptions is that in the premium subscription the user get an ad-free service while in the free-subscription you get some advertisements while playing your music.

However, in the last few years, Spotify discovered that millions of free-users are accessing Spotify services ads-free by using some third party Ad-Blockers. And so, this was a major concern of the company to resist its users from using third-party ad-blocker services. As the majority of the revenue of Spotify is made by premium subscription and due to this situation, Company was going in loss.

Spotify tried to figure out this situation by sending emails to the users who use ad-blockers threatening them to close their account. But at that time, they also mentioned that they can regain their account if they use the official app or turn over to a premium subscription.

Even after step, this harsh situation didn’t change much and so looking forward to controlling this situation, Spotify has taken a big step to permanently delete the account using unfair means to block advertisements. Spotify has updated its Terms of Service and clearly listed that the “Circumventing or blocking advertisements in the Spotify Service, or creating disturbing tools designed to blocks advertisements in the Spotify Service” may lead to “Immediate termination or suspension of your Spotify Account.”

However, this Terms of Service will come into effect from March 1, 2019. So, if you are among those users who use ad-blockers in Spotify and continue to use these after this date, your account will get permanently suspended. So, be advised not to use unfair means after this date.
