Among many other smartphones manufacturers, Sony has unveiled its flagship phone, Xperia 1 at an event held in Barcelona at Mobile World Congress (MWC 2019). Sony Xperia 1 has previously leaked in some forums and on website but at that time it was assumed to be Xperia XZ4. But this time Sony has renamed its flagship phone as Xperia 1. The main highlight of Sony Xperia 1 is its 4K OLED HDR display which is the world’s first 4K OLED HDR display on any smartphone. Also, this is the world’s first smartphone to integrate Eye AutoFocus tracking in the camera. This is an ultra-premium smartphone by Sony which is yet to be launched in 2019.
Sony Xperia 1: Specifications
The all new Sony Xperia 1 features a huge 6.5-inch 4K OLED HDR display with 21:9 aspect ratio. It features a highly detailed panel to deliver a crystal clear image at the screen. This display panel supports 10-bit tonal gradation and wide color space ITU-R BT.2020, and DCI-P3 with Illuminant D65. In addition, the display is protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Also, Sony Xperia 1 is IP68 certified for dust and water resistance.
Apart from this, Sony Xperia 1 is powered by the latest octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC coupled with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of inbuilt storage which can be extended via a MicroSD card. It is packed up with 3,300 mAh battery paired with the Sony’s STAMINA mode which claims it to still alive for a whole day; however, it doesn’t look this battery capacity is enough for the power consuming 4K display. Also, this Sony Xperia 1 runs on the latest Android 9 Pie OS.
In addition, Sony Xperia 1 features triple rear camera setup with each of 12MP sensors. Each of these cameras has different focal lengths: 16mm for wide shots, a 26mm normal view, and a 52mm lens for telephoto shooting. These cameras comes with the eye autofocus (Eye AF) tracking from its mirrorless A7 cameras and deliver 10 fps shooting speeds with autofocus and auto-exposure enabled. Also, this phone is bundled with a large 1.4μm dual photodiode image sensor and RAW noise reduction to capture low light shots with high precision. You can also shoot 4K HDR video at 24 fps in a 21:9 widescreen cinematic format.
Sony Xperia 1: Price and Availability
As for the price and availability of Sony Xperia 1 is concerned, Sony hasn’t revealed the price tag of this flagship phone, but of course, they said that this phone will be available from the starting of Spring 2019 in the US. So, we have to wait a bit more to know the pricing of Sony Xperia 1 smartphone.
