Sony has revealed a new set of PlayStation 5 controllers with three color options. These DualSense controllers have a “smooth metallic finish” and will be part of their new “The Deep Earth Collection.” The company has also filed a new patent that will look to create unique games for players who are travelling, and cater content to them based on the travel distance, and other metrics.
PS5 metallic controllers and covers
The new PS5 metallic controllers will be released in the coming months, releasing one at a time. There will also be console covers based on the same colors, as part of this collection. Volcanic Red, Cobalt Blue and Sterling Silver are the color options for the new range of PS5 DualSense controllers.
Volcanic Red controller and console cover will release on October 4 and it will be followed by Cobalt Blue accessories coming on November 3. Sterling Silver accessories will arrive on January 26, 2024. All three controllers are priced at $74.99 in the US, and £64.99 in the UK. The console covers will cost $59.99 in the US and £49.99 in the UK.
Sony files patent to create games for travellers
Elsewhere, Sony has also filed a new patent as they look to create a new way to deliver their video games. They are targeting gamers on the move, who are traveling, and will seek to create games that cater to them. The patent, as reported by Exputer, is called “Travel-Dependent Content Provision System and Method.”
Sony wants to create “flexible content engagement” for traveling users which will be based on the time of the trip, and even analysing the terrain, number of users, routes, internet connectivity, and other factors. Interestingly, Sony wants to create augmented reality games for users on foot or bicycles using their patented technology but it is difficult as of now to guess what kind of games they have in mind.
