Split into two volumes, the first five episodes of The Witcher Season 3 will be released on June 29, with the final three episodes following closely on July 27. Showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich reveals that this season draws inspiration primarily from Andrzej Sapkowski’s Time of Contempt, the fourth book in The Witcher series. Hissrich promises a thrilling and epic storyline with plenty of moments sure to excite fans.
The clip features interviews with stars Henry Cavill (Geralt), Anya Chalotra (Yennefer), and Freya Allan (Ciri), who discuss how the season kicks off with the three characters together as a family. However, their reunion is far from tranquil, as Ciri is in hiding and they face countless threats. Nevertheless, they are not idle.
Allan shares that Yennefer is teaching Ciri to harness her magic, showcasing her growth and newfound ability to contribute to their dangerous situations. The highlight for Allan was a fight scene with Cavill, a long-anticipated moment she relished.
Cavill reveals that Geralt’s character undergoes a significant transformation in these episodes. He expresses a desire to train his adopted daughter to be as skilled as him, giving viewers a glimpse into Geralt’s deeper, more intellectual side.
The clip also introduces new and returning characters, with Jaskier actor Joey Batey warning that the stakes are higher than ever. The characters will face death head-on, requiring immense sacrifice to overcome their obstacles.
It’s worth noting that Season 3 will mark the end of Henry Cavill’s portrayal of Geralt of Rivia. Liam Hemsworth will take over the role in Season 4 and beyond.
