Snapchat Announced Snap Camera App for Desktops


Snapchat filters are famous and widely used all over the world. The company has now launched a new app called Snap Camera for desktops to bring the Snapchat filters to the desktop platform. This newly launched application can be integrated apps like Skype, Twitch, Google Hangouts, and Zoom which will enable users to apply Snapchat filters. Snap Camera app is available for free for both Windows and Mac users. There’s no requirement to log into the Snapchat account to use it, you don’t even need of having a Snapchat account to use this app.

More of users are expected to embrace this newly launched application. “With Snap Camera for desktop, choose from thousands of Lenses, including classics made by Snapchat as well as new designs created daily by the Lens creator community through Lens Studio. This means more streaming and sharing with Lenses”, the company said.

Snapchat said that this update will bring 250,000 AR lenses to the desktop platforms, and it is free to download from the company’s servers. As the company mentioned, some filters can also come from the lens creators from the community, that’s we can be sure that there will lots of effects to try out.

“To get started, download the Snap Camera app on your desktop device. Snap Camera syncs with the camera connected to your computer and works with some of your favorite video-sharing platforms and apps. This means wearing Lenses while recording your next Youtube video, or even while streaming with apps like Skype, Google Hangouts, and OBS. We’ve also developed a custom Snap Camera integration just for streaming on Twitch.” the company said while explaining that the application is easy to use.

Aside from thousands of filter options, Snapchat has also launched an extension for Twitch. This extension will let the streamers use and apply different lenses on their streams. This was even paired up with Twitch subscriptions that offers special reactions when someone subscribes to their channel.  Plenty of new filters for popular video games like PUBG and League of Legends is also available.

Snapchat has also made a partnership with the Hooked startup to produce a five-chapter, sci-fi mystery thriller set in Silicon Valley called Dark Matter, and this will be available from the Snapchat Discover page. The first chapter was launched on Friday, and fresh episodes will be added once a day.
