Sky Q viewers need to take advantage of this price drop to upgrade

Sky has slashed the price of its Sky Soundbox soundbar – dropping the cost from £499 to £209. Even better, the Soundbox is on-sale for £189 for Sky VIP customers, which, given that all Sky subscribers can become part of the VIP scheme, means basically every single Sky TV viewer.

That is a pretty phenomenal deal. The Sky Soundbox was created by premium audio brand Devialet, which has earned truckloads of awards and industry gongs for its speakers. Given that you’d usually have to cough-up the best part of £1,200 to get a wireless Devialet-made speaker in your home, this is an awesome deal.

In fact, when the Sky Soundbox first launched the all-in-one speaker system it cost £799 – with current and new Sky customers able to buy the Soundbox for £299, with new and existing Sky Q Multiscreen customers priced at £249.

And now, you’ll be able to get the same kit for £189 – just in time for the barrage of Halloween and Christmas movies coming to our screens in the coming weeks and months.

Sky Soundbox is compatible with Sky Q and Sky+ HD set-top boxes as well as standalone TVs. Of course, you can also beam tracks from your smartphone whenever you’re not watching television using the built-in AirPlay feature on Sky Q that lets iPhone and iPad owners send tracks from their Music app to the speaker.

However, as the name suggests, those who use the Soundbox with Sky Q will benefit the most. If you set-up a Sky Soundbox with a Sky Q system, you will benefit from a new feature dubbed Sky Q Sound. This exclusive mode means you will get access to sound configurations designed by Devialet, fine-tuned to improve the audio in a range of Sky TV, including entertainment and sports.

With each mode, the audio settings on the Sky Soundbox will be subtly adjusted for the best possible results with whatever is on your TV. In addition, Sky Soundbox offers dynamic volume management – where the all-in-one analyses incoming audio in real-time and adjusts the volume to ensure clarity – from the quietest mumbling to explosive action.

Sky Soundbox users can also manually pick from a number of modes to best suit their needs, including Dialogue Enhance mode (which ensures speech is always clear and defined), Late Night mode (where bass is decreased) and Kids mode (parents are given control over the maximum volume levels to protect vulnerable ears … or save tired parents).

Speaking about the launch of Sky Soundbox back in 2017, Sky UK CEO Stephen van Rooyen said: “Sound is a vital part of visual storytelling – whether you’re watching the season finale of your favourite drama, or an epic Premier League clash. That’s why we’ve partnered with audio industry leaders Devialet to launch Sky Soundbox and take the TV experience to the next level for our customers. Great TV deserves great audio – we believe Sky Soundbox is the Ultra HD of home audio.”
