Since the launch of its advanced voice assistant Siri, Apple has been continuously working on making some fine improvements in its artificial intelligence to expand Siri’s capabilities. And now, the latest move from the company in this vision is to make Siri more conversational.
According to a report from Bloomberg, Apple just bought Voysis, an AI startup that makes it easier to use a voice assistant to buy stuff in shopping apps. As of now, there is no information on how Apple will incorporate this technology in Siri. However, this move from Apple has been taken to make its voice assistant Siri as conversational as Google Assistant, which understands context and more natural phrasing than Siri does.
In the past few years, Apple has been working hard to expand Siri’s capabilities. However, even after extensive efforts from the company, it doesn’t come up as advanced as Google Assistant or Alexa. In the latest release of iOS 13, Apple has made Siri’s voice more natural, but the assistant still often fails to understand queries unless they’re phrased in a specific way.
According to the report from Bloomberg, with the inclusion of Voysis technology in Siri, one can ask voice assistants to narrow down shopping search results with phrases like, “I need a new LED TV,” and “My budget is under $1,000.”
