Shazam Now Officially Owned by Apple with an Ad-free Version Coming Soon

Shazam is a sensational application which even got a review from a giddy reviewer in 2009 saying “the closest a cell phone can come to magic.” It is fantastically great for a reason that this application allows users to identify a song playing anywhere, be it on a bar, restaurant, or a car radio, just let the app listen to a fragment of the music and will match it to the millions of songs in its database.

Up until now Shazam is still popular as it has been downloaded more than a billion times with over 150 million active users per month. According to Apple, Shazam is the seventh most popular music app in Apple’s store. No wonder why Apple made its way on acquiring this application, and just recently yesterday, Apple officially owned Shazam for a $400 million offer.

This is a great opportunity for Apple and for Shazam users as well, “app will soon offer its experience ad-free for all users”, Apple said, so that we can expect an incoming ad-free version of this application.  Apple seems to like it very much as Oliver Schusser, Apple’s vice president of Apple Music said, “Apple and Shazam have a long history together. Shazam was one of the first apps available when we launched the App Store and has become a favourite app for music fans everywhere.”

Apple has been expecting that the Apple Music’s 36 million subscribers could soon be increased by the 7.5 million Shazam subscribers by taking the ownership of Shazam. The recent Google Play to stream songs on the app has now been removed, the application will now identify a song, and it will show a large button to buy or play the song on Apple Music.

This acquisition will be a good revenue for Apple, and we can also expect that they will implement some improvements on the application so that the huge crowd of users will continue to love it. As of now, there were no further updates yet about the steps that they will take, but expect that TechnoCodex will bring it to you once it is available.
