Maggid Comics has launched a Kickstarter for a Jewish comics magazine, Maggid Magazine, for San Diego Comic Con 2023.
Source Point Press’ imprint Maggid Comics has initiated a Kickstarter campaign to bring forth the groundbreaking Maggid Magazine at the highly anticipated San Diego Comic Con in 2023.
Maggid Comics, known for its Jewish-themed comic books, has launched a Kickstarter campaign for the first-ever monthly Jewish comic magazine, Maggid Magazine. The campaign will officially commence on Friday, July 21st, in conjunction with the presence of Maggid Comics executives on a panel at San Diego Comic Con.
The event “The New Face of Jewish Comics” will take place in Room 29CD on Friday, July 21st at 10:30 AM. Interested readers can sign up for notifications about the Kickstarter launch.
Maggid Comics asserts that “we firmly believe that pop culture can foster global thinking. Therefore, it is imperative that pop culture includes authentic and diverse portrayals of Jews and Judaism. That is why we are thrilled and proud to showcase our Jewish stories through our all-audiences monthly comics magazine. With a wide range of Jewish stories from various creators, Maggid Magazine will allow readers to experience genuine and diverse representations of Jews and Judaism.”
“Jewish culture and history offer an array of diverse and captivating narratives that deserve to be shared and enjoyed by the world,” stated Arnon Z. Shorr, EIC. “Through Maggid Magazine, we aim to bridge the gap between Jewish heritage and the broader comic book community.” This sentiment is endorsed by Maggid CRO David McLees, who emphasizes that “our Kickstarter campaign will pave the way for Jews to proudly express their stories through art.” CFO Ramy DuBrow adds, “As a community, we have an opportunity to take a stand and ensure that future generations have rich collections of contemporary Jewish content at their fingertips, and we at Maggid are proud to lead this charge.”
The Kickstarter campaign will offer magazine subscriptions for its initial run, exclusive limited edition books from Maggid Comics, unique merchandise, and opportunities to engage with the creative team. By supporting the campaign, Maggid emphasizes that “backers will not only help bring Maggid Magazine to fruition but also contribute to the amplification of Jewish voices in popular culture.”
Maggid Comics is also actively collaborating with like-minded creators and organizations that share the mission of celebrating Jewish comics, including the upcoming JewCE comic convention at the Center for Jewish History in Manhattan, which will run from November 11th to 12th. Maggid states that they are “working towards building partnerships that will create a future where artists, creators, and fans have a dedicated space for exceptional Jewish comics and entertainment.”
I am curious if I should send them a copy of Watchmensch.
