Ahead of Prime Day, Walmart and Amazon are both offering the Meta Quest 3 128GB VR Headset for only $429, a 15% off discount from its original $499 MSRP. This is the lowest price we’ve seen for Meta’s latest VR headset and unlikely to be beaten on Prime Day. We picked the Quest 3 as the best VR headset of 2024.

Meta Quest 3 128GB VR Headset
5
The Meta Quest 3 is the best standalone, consumer-oriented VR headset you can get right now. It continues Meta’s legacy of offering a cost-effective headset that doesn’t require an expensive gaming PC, but can still benefit from one if you have it. That’s a unique feature that sets it apart from almost every other VR headset out there, other than its own predecessors. The Quest 3 goes even further by offering us a ticket to mixed-reality gaming with a full-color passthrough mode that’s sharp enough to read things in the world around you, the lightest and most precisely tracked controllers available, and more. Add to that a sharper display, more powerful processor, and better controllers, the Quest 3 is clearly a superior headset when compared to its three-year-old predecessor. At its current price of $429, it’s less expensive than other competitors like the PSVR2, the HP Reverb G2, the aging Valve Index, and the HTC Vive XR Elite. Most of these other headsets also require a separate PlayStation 5 console or gaming PC to run it, which adds to the cost.
