Satoru Iwata’s Tribute Book is Releasing in English Next Year

0

The book is releasing in Spring of 2021.

Ask Iwata was first published in Japan last year. The book was a tribute to the great Satoru Iwata, the president and CEO of Nintendo who passed away in 2015.  The book is now getting an English release next year in the spring of 2021.

In a description of the book shared with The Verge, VIZ Media stated: “In this motivational collection, Satoru Iwata addresses diverse subjects such as locating bottlenecks, how success breeds resistance to change, and why programmers should never say no. Drawn from the ‘Iwata Asks’ series of interviews with key contributors to Nintendo games and hardware, and featuring conversations with renowned Mario franchise creator Shigeru Miyamoto and creator of Earthbound Shigesato Itoi, Ask Iwata offers game fans and business leaders an insight into the leadership, development and design philosophies of one of the most beloved figures in gaming history.”

For those who are not aware, Satoru Iwata used to run a series called Iwata Asks on the Nintendo website. They are actually still available right now. The interviews are not only fascinating deep dives into games and video game development but a great insight into the minds of some of the greatest creators in the industry.

Satoru Iwata was a key part of the success of Nintendo. He was one of the minds behind Nintendo when they decided to take the company in a direction other than just having a set-top box that plugs into a TV and a normal controller. He was CEO when Nintendo launched both the Wii and the DS.

Though, many Nintendo fans would recognize him from all of the Nintendo Directs he hosted. He had such a charm and his mannerisms always brightened my mood during those shows, even when the company didn’t have much to show. The world is a worse place without this man and I am greatly looking forward to reading this book next year.
