Samsung Will Shut Down Its S Voice Virtual Assistant In June

Samsung has debuted its first voice assistant, S Voice with the Samsung Galaxy S3 in May 2012. Since then, it comes preinstalled on most of the Samsung devices launched between 2012 to 2017. However, at a later stage, it was replaced by Samsung’s next-gen Bixby assistant starting with the Galaxy S8.

Even after getting replaced by Bixby’s assistant, S Voice was still functional in some of Samsung’s devices. But now, it looks like the North Korean giant is on its way to kill S Voice for forever. Samsung told SamMobile that the S Voice digital assistant will be discontinued on June 1st, 2020. After that point, all queries will be answered with “I’m unable to process your request.”

Although not many devices will be affected by this change as most of the devices are using Google Assistant as their primary voice assistants. However, there are some of Samsung’s older wearables that were never updated to use Bixby will be stuck with no voice assistant.
