Samsung Unveils Exynos 990 with 120Hz display support


South Korean giant, Samsung has announced its new Exynos 990 mobile processor officially. The company has unveiled this new mobile processor at Samsung Tech Day 2019.

According to reports, the new Exynos 990 Processor is designed for the flagship phones of Samsung. In the coming years, Samsung will be using this latest processor on the new premium-end smartphones which would also support 5G connectivity.

Samsung to come up with this new processor on its upcoming Galaxy S11 Series. Samsung’s Galaxy S series smartphones are quite popular and being a flagship series, we hope to see this advanced processor starting from the Galaxy S11 smartphone, however, there is no confirmation made by the South Korean giant as of now.

If we talk about the new Exynos 990 Chipset, it is based on a 7nm EUV process. It also comes with next-gen 5G Exynos Modem 5123. Unfortunately, Samsung has not disclosed the set of features and functions of this new chipset as of now.

According to Samsung’s statement, the new generation Exynos 990 processor is designed with tri-cluster CPU structure which supports two powerful custom cores, two Cortex-A76 cores and Cortex-A55 cores. With tri-cluster CPU, the company claims to consume 20% less CPU usage while giving you 20% faster and smoother performance.

Apart from this, the processor is backed by Arm Mali-G77 GPU which is designed with the new Valhall architecture. The company claims that this newly designed GPU will offer a 20% boost in graphical performance. It would offer a whole new environment for those who love to play different types of games on their smartphones.

The processor will support 120Hz refresh rate which makes multi-tasking super-efficient. The current flagships of Samsung are using 60Hz of refresh rate so you will get double refresh rate with this processor in the upcoming Galaxy S smartphones.

It comes with dual-core NPU with an advanced DSP. It offers up to 10 trillion operations per second. As mentioned above, we can expect this new processor in the early next year with Samsung’s new Galaxy S11 smartphone. More updates will be posted here, stay tuned with us!
